Find SHADE!

SO TODAY BY FAR WAS THE HOTTEST DAY OF 2010!!!!

Not only was it hot, but it was muggy and nasty! After walking to my car and stepping one foot inside my heated ride. My concealer was dripping off my face, my foundation was in in the palm of my hands and it was NAAASTY! LOL! So what is a makeup diva like myself to do in this situation you ask???... Go back inside, wash my face and try something a little bit more simple! Today was so hot I decided to go with less. Even though I had a lunch date with my cousins and I never like to show them my less fabulous side. Today was one of those days where foundation and heavy makeup was not an option! I decided to run back into the house wash my face, moisturize, put on masscara, a lil' concealer under my eyes, bronzer on my cheeks and POPPIN' lip gloss on the lips. This is all good but you have to top it all off with some banging glasses! You can not do the minimum and not have the feircest glasses on!! So, I slipped on my Fendi's and walked out the door looking wonderful! When you don't have makeup and you still wanna look fabulous. Try putting on some bad ass glasses! They set off any look but camoflauge what you are trying to hide while wearing little to no makeup! Here is some Fashionista shades that you will love. (Denise in Prada my fav!, Ashley in MEDIA, Lindsay in Chanel and OoooLa La in Balenciaga)
Also go to Nordstrom.com to check out the shades they have on sale! WONDERFUL SALES especially Micheal Kor's Sunglasses!!!!!!

TAKE A CHILL PILL!

I am sure you have had your days of being a little bit on edge. The children are getting on your nerves, you have a big project due for work tomorrow and your husband is asking you what's for dinner!! This clearly spells STRESS! This is a serious concern for women's health, state of mind and their SKIN! Stress not only can make you sick, but it can also make you look baaad... No seriously, stress shows up in a few places you don't ever want it to. Your hair, tummy and most importantly your face. Try to take it easy ladies and realize that you are not Super Women. You can not save the day! If you don't take care of you, who else will. I think that women today need to take better care of themselves and their temple which is their body. We were Created to nurture and protect. Well today I am going to give you a few tips on taking care of you.
I came up with a relaxation routine that you can do once a week or how ever many times you need it!

1.) As soon as you hit the door take off your clothes! Take down your hair and breathe! It is such a relief to be able to strip off the articles of clothing that have had you bound all day! (like your bra!!!)

2.) If you have to prepare dinner, do something quick! I love making tacos. Self serve, easy and quick!

3.) Prepare a bath. If you want to really relax, try burning a candle with lavender or jasmine. I also fell in love with Aroma Therapeutics Sensual Surrender Jasmine and Ginger bubble bath. This is wonderful and natural if you have sensitive skin.

4.) A facial mask is a must!! I love Borghese's Clay mask! They suck the dirt right out of your pores. But if your skin is kinda dry, try the moisture mask from Laura Mericer. They are awesome!!!

5.) Warm oils are the best. I love the feel of warm oils on my skin. It gives you a calm and soothing feel all over your body. Ayurvedic oils have been known to reduce sadness, confusion and indecisiveness. You can go to a spa and get a warm oil massage for over $100.00 or you can get your significant other to give you a nice rub down... Either way, this is a wonderful way to relieve stress.

6.) Have a nice, warm cup of tea before bed. I love sleepy time tea from Celestial Seasonings! Yummy and my fave!! Its Egyptian chamomile, cool spearmint and lemon grass really get's you prepared and ready for sleep. I get this when Teavana is outta budget. I think it works just fine!!!

These tips help you get rid of some of the stress at the end of the day. But the biggest tip I can give you is to let go and let God! Don't sweat the small stuff. So what if some things didn't go as planned. IT'S NOT THAT SERIOUS GIRL!!! TAKE A CHILL PILL! I hope these tips help you have a wonderful night sleeping the stress away...

My Fall Faves!!!!

I am LOVING the new but old fall trends of 2010! Fabulous thick brows and luscious crimson lips will draw good attention to your face right away. I have a few tips and products that I love and I know that you will love too. So here they are!

Go for the brow! I love emphasizing the brow and the brow bone! I really dislike dark eyebrows on women though. Sometimes even with dark or black hair, if you have super black brows it looks waaay too harsh and sometimes ages the look of your face. Try to lighten up a little with Smashbox's Brow Tech! I am a fan of their auburn when my hair is lighter in the summer time. I usually lighten my brows when my hair is lighter. In the fall and winter months I use their brunette because I go back to my naturally darker hair color.

In the fall my skin gets a bit dryer. But, I still like the convenience of powder. It is easy to put on in the car while I am driving and it gives me full coverage. But sometimes I look cakey and with my skin being dry it's not a good look. So I love the convenience again of MAC Cosmetics Fix Plus. Put on the desired amount of powder on your face (medium to full coverage). Once you have done that, spray your face with the fix plus. What this does is lock in the moisture and it sets your makeup. It also gives the face a nice glow. You can use this product in the summer too as a nice refresher. Put it in the cooler while you are at the beach. When you get extra heated, cool down by spraying all of your face. You will notice a pretty glow to your face!

It is all about the eye liner this fall! Dramatic but yet subtle cat eyes that accentuate the shape of your eyes are perfect!!! My take is if you are going to do it this fall, do it with color!! I am so tired of black, brown and grey! Try some new colors for the fall like plum, emerald greens and steel shiny khols. I love the cat eyes when they are soft. So don't do the liquid eyeliner all under the eye. Find a nice shadow that will softly blend in with the liquid eye liner. My favorite brush in the world is the Laura Mercier Smudge Brush. It is so small that it keeps the smudge in place so that you can control it.
(Notes: I am over matte red lips glam them up with some gloss! I say go red and make it juicy with MAC Cosmetics Lip Glass)

I hope that you enjoyed the preview of the fall fashions for this year. I will have more to come your way soon! Until then, don't forget to "Unleash the beauty within..."

LADY YOU WENT TOO FAR!!!!

You know, sometimes I wonder... What in the hell was she thinking? I mean seriously, what in the HELL were you thinking when you did this to yourself?!?! Okay! A quick story. So today I was walking down the street... Minding my business with my over sized sunglasses and a hat on and my favorite brand of coffee ( I will not advertise them until I get and endorsement deal. LOL!). So anyway, I just got finished working out and I didn't really want to be seen looking so bad. So again, I was minding my own business and what do I see a mile away???? A woman who looked like the above picture!!!!! OMG!! LADY, you just went a little too far! I should not see your eyebrows before I see your face! I should not see a dark line around your lips because this was done in 1997! I was so sad for her. Her face looked like a giant Crayola box! Obviously she wakes up every morning at the crack of dawn to put on this face! I mean, who does that?? I can tell that she is in her early to mid 20's, but the makeup that she had on aged her about 20 extra years. Her foundation of choice was so thick and it was the wrong color!!! I didn't want to speak on it, but I think I am. I have to, since woman still think it's okay to look like Tammy Fay Baker or a drag queen! It is my moral obligation as a makeup artist and friend... LOL! So here are the rules for a fresh summer time look. I hope that you use some of these tips because GEESH! The next time I will have an intervention!!!!

1.)Use a tinted moisturizer for the summer. If you want more coverage use a foundation but don't cake it on. A little bit goes a looooong way in most cases.

2.) Use day time looks for the day time and night time looks for the night. Who wears a smokey, cat eye to go to the office. Save that for after work.

3.) Blend, blend BLEND! your lip liner! It is okay to have a contrast of color on your lips. But if I see you with a dark thick line on your lips, I will have a fit!

4.) Make sure you place the bronzer on the high lights of your face (bridge of nose, cheek bones, forehead and center of the chin) If you put it on all over, you will look dirty and not bronzed.

5.) Do not! And I mean Do not wear frost eyeshadow from your lash line to your eyebrow! I hate it! I hate that the most!! That is not a good look for the day or the night!

I hope that this helps you a little bit with your everyday look. If you have a question hit me up on FB under Yolanda Parrish or on twitter @ eyecandi_82 or at hermosamakeup@gmail.com

What Do Men Really LIKE...???

It doesn't take a genius to know that men are attracted to what looks good and feels good. It's in their nature! Well, I am going to give you some tips on things men really like that are in this particular category. Smooth and soft skin that glows and smells good. Men love skin they can touch and smell and doesn't feel like theirs!

Don't think that men like the sweet and fruity scents that you overdose on at Victoria Secrets or Bath& Body Works. You will be surprised to find out what men really like and what gets them going when it comes to your skin, the scents and the feel.

Clean Scents
Men seem to like that just-out-of-the-shower feeling. More Men said 2 thumbs up to Christian Dior’s orchid-infused J’adore, claiming it smelled natural. Also scents that have a soft citrus scents like grapefruit clear their senses and get men more aroused. I think lighter and more citrus scents go well for the spring and summer time. It guarantees that you remain fresh and light throughout the day. So keep these scents around and refresh with a purse spray for the longer days @ work. Right before you get out of the car spray a little on the back of your knee cap and right behind your ear. Make sure you don't rub your fragrance into your skin. It bruises the scent and causes it to fade away quicker. If you really want your scent to last throughout the day, LAYER! LAYER! LAYER! Bathe with a note that matches your fragrance or buy the lotion that goes with your favorite scent.

Woody and Floral Scents
Don’t think that perfumes that have musky, spicy or woody notes are a turn off to men either. The notes may sound a little manish, but these multi-layered scents smell great on you. These scents are very sensual and passionate to men. White pepper, patchouli and amber blend of Christian Lacroix Rouge is an absolute go for a steamy night! I usually like wearing heavier scents in the winter. It tends to warm up a chilly night. However, heavier scents tend to change in the summer due to our body temperature being warmer. So kinda avoid wearing notes that are warmer or spicier in the summer time. Also stay away from the sugary cookie smelling notes. The one note that men do go crazy for is vanilla. But ease up on the sugar cookie vanilla scents. It tends to give them a headache! LOL!

Body Butter

When a man caresses you, he wants to feel the suppleness and softness of a woman. With that being said always exfoliate. All women should remain hair free on their legs and other areas such as buttocks and chest area! It is not cool for your man to touch you and feel more hair on you than he has on his body!!!! So, with that being said I have a few products that you will in enjoy.
Laura Mercier has rich and creamy body scrubs that leave your skin looking and feeling wonderful! Try Laura's Almond Coconut Scrub! It smells divine and its very subtle. Also make sure that you scrub your booty and the back of your arms. The small bumps that are on your skin is from a skin condition that you can treat with Alpha Hydroxy products. Pat your skin dry and follow up with a creamy body cream or butter.
For the hairy ladies out there. If waxing is a bit painful for you, try VEET hair removal! It is the absolute best and I use it! It melts away hair in a matter of seconds! Don't leave it on your skin for more than 3 min because it will irritate your skin.
*Note* I like to do a body scrub on my legs first, rinse off and then shave. This helps to make your legs glow and it also lifts the hair so that you can get a closer shave!
Okay ladies I hope that he enjoys!

My DESTINY not my job!

So, I live for photo shoots and being on movie sets!Usually when I am on set, the days are long and tiresome. I work in extreme heat and extreme cold. Sometimes I don't feel well, and my back starts to hurt from all the crouching I do. Like in this picture>>>>>>
At times I don't get to eat all day, and most of the time I don't feel pretty at all! I have late nights and earrrrly morning(I am sooo not a morning person at all)
I stand on my feet for at least 8 hours a day and I never get to share the spotlight or walk the red carpet (for now..)! With that being said, never once do I complain. If you ask me why, I will just simply say... I LOVE THIS MAN! I LIVE FOR THIS ACTION! I live for getting down and dirty! And when I say dirty, I mean literally dirty! By the end of the day makeup is every where! Who said that making someone beautiful was an easy job? Who told me that the criteria for being a makeup artist would be so much? Who said that this job would be glamorous for me? Well, when you do something that you are truly passionate about, you don't consider it to be work or a task! You consider it to be your journey towards your destiny. I have been blessed with a talent, and I am going to use it all up until I become a math mathematician(I hate math)... LOL! Don't get me wrong, I think this is the best job in showbiz with perks! But it's also one of the toughest jobs in show business as well. All rewarding though! Remember to "Unleash the Beauty Within you..." And find your true destiny!
